Ebay angered many sellers recently by significantly raising transaction fees.
…the cost of a monthly subscription for a basic eBay Store will go up 60 percent to $15.95. The cost of 10-day listings will double to 40 cents, and final value fees that are assessed when a sale closes also will rise.
Shortly thereafter eBay announces they have substantially raised the compensation for affiliates who drive new confirmed eBay users (ACRUs). (I don’t know why new customers are always an acronym.) In addition they have lowered the performance tiers.
The commissions are based on volume and the new payout goes like this:
1- 499 will be $20.00
500- 999 will be $25.00
1,000 - 1,999 will be $30.00
2,000 - 3,499 will be $35.00
3,500 - 4,999 will be $40.00
5,000 - 7,499 will be $42.50
7,500 + ACRU will be $45.00
This does not include payouts on bidding. The jump starts February 1. Raises are never arbitrary so the real question would be why are they raising their compensation structure?
