Little Johnny gets a nickel

August 7th, 2006 by Tim Storm

Every Saturday morning, Little Johnny would go to the supermarket with his mother.

Some folks thought of Johnny as being a little slow - one guy at the deli counter liked to have a little fun when Johnny would come by… He would call over another worker and show how slow Johnny was.

The deli worker would offer Johnny a choice - he could have a “BIG SHINY NICKEL” or a “tiny little dime”.

Johnny’s eyes would get big, and he would take the Nickel every time - much to the delight of the guy at the deli counter.

One day another employee saw this take place and thought he’d help out Johnny and explain to him that the dime was worth twice as much as the nickel.

Little Johnny listened, and responded “hey - if I took the dime, I wouldn’t get a nickel every time I came in here!”.

Are you taking a dime today and giving up the stream of nickels?
