Is Walmart.com On Crack?

This is not merely an attention grabbing headline. If that were the case, I’d have written “Shmuly Tennenhaus to marry Rachel Hunter”. Since you asked, according to today’s NY Post, Ms. Hunter is in fact severely single and desperately desiring to date a dude. (Matisyahu is already taken…)

Anyways, back to the title of the Post. Imagine my horror when I try logging onto walmart.com, only to receive this message:
We’re sorry! The Walmart.com Web site is temporarily closed. Please visit again soon. In the meantime, if you need any assistance, please email us anytime at Help@Walmart.com or call our Customer Service during the hours of 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. CST at 1-800-966-6546. Thank you.

Then, imagine the confusion when I try logging onto www.walmart.com, only to see that they are in fact open for business. Or are they? Better yet, what the heck is going on? This does not make any sense at all. Ever since the year 1856, web users have not bothered with placing the www prefix. Except my father that is. But give the man some credit. Not only does my dad use email…he EVEN has a gmail account!

So, back to walmart. Do they have two sites with the same URL? Are they suffering from schizophrenia? Or maybe Walmart also pays their ONLINE staff $7 an hour and one disgruntled techie decided to show the Waltons “who’s the boss”!

As my current residence is in Montreal, Canada (insert condolences here), I decided to check out walmart.ca. After all, Walmart is the largest private employer in Canada (as well as the US, Mexico & Purgatory). Guess what? These guys do not ship to Canada! So, you’re the biggest employer of the Country, BUT you still aren’t set up to ship there. Even bluenile.com ships to Canada with their Canadian site.

Anyways, stay tuned. There’s tons that needs to be said about the worlds largest retailer and world wide web’s biggest flop.
