Etail: Adventures in Affiliate Marketing

June 30th, 2006 by Shmuly Tennenhaus

To Etail or Not to Etail?

I was contacted by Etail to speak at an their upcoming event. We spoke by phone. It was fun. The guy who called told me that they had some speakers back out and Etail would be glad to serve me as sloppy seconds. Of course, I jumped at the offer. It is not every day I get a phone call. Especially not an oratory request for the city of brotherly love.

The topic we agreed upon was “How NOT to Manage an Affiliate Program“. Most people in the industry would agree that I am an expert on this matter. Specifically, the affiliates I’ve had the opportunity to work with. I have some good war stories in my affiliate arsenal and think it would be enlightening to share them with the public. Hopefully, these inane anecdotes will inspire others to commit the same exact “fillie follies” that I have made!

During the discussion I mentioned that I might be leaving my job. Then I did. I informed Etail that I have melted and would still happily attend their event to chew, be a good Jew, sit silently in a pew and then entertain with a spew.

They have yet to get back to me. Have I been nixed from the mix? Was I dumped on my rump? Have I been egged in the leg? Banned from the land? Maced by an ace in the face?

The bottom line is, etail or no etail, my adventures in affiliate marketing are available for public consumption. Maybe it’ll show up in trashy romance novel, made for TV movie or comic book!
