Search Marketing Poaching From Offline Marketing Budgets
Feb 13, 2007
by Mike Murray
It looks like offline marketing is picking up the price of search engine marketing programs.
The new “State of Search Engine Marketing 2006″ survey indicates that businesses are grabbing money from print, direct mail and TV advertising to pay for search engine marketing initiatives. In 2005, companies often shifted dollars from other online marketing efforts like website development, affiliate marketing and e-mail marketing.
Online marketing still helps pay for paid search and natural search engine optimization, but offline marketing apparently is taking a bigger hit than ever before.
Print magazine advertising is affected the most (20%) followed by direct mail (16%). Affiliate marketing (10%) is in the middle of the vulnerable pack.
