Search Engine Ranking Backgrounds

William (Bill) Slawski from SEO by the Sea is known in the Search Engine Optimization Industry as one of the foremost experts on Search Engine Patents.

He spends a lot of time reading Patent Applications filed by the major Search Engines and analyses them to get Ideas how Search Engine might work in the future.

He posted this weekend at his blog a list of 20 different ways how Search Engines may re-rank Search Results, each referring to one or more patent filed by a Search Engine to provide details about how they would actually do it.

Pretty interesting stuff and well written to make the subjects understandable for the non-Technical folks (or the ones that are blessed with deep mathematical knowledge and understanding).

This ability is one of the reasons why Bill gets invited as Speaker to the various Search Marketing Conferences. He is also a funny guy which is another reason I think ;) .
