Most Viewed Wikipedia Pages
This looks like something a lot of affiliate marketers should be interested in, the Top 100 viewed pages from Wikipedia.org for the month of March, so far. Why is this page interesting? It is completely adjustable, and has data from as far back as August of 2006. I adjusted it to stay in March and changed the number of pages to one thousand, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory came up number 996 for March with an average of 3,818 page views per day. Looking at that search in Google and you’ll see that wikipedia comes up third in the searches and that there is only one adwords ad, anyone think they can make some money there? I checked the free version of Wordtracker, couldn’t remember my login, and it says 134 searches a day, so I would assume Google would have five or six times that volume.
Most of the pages appear to coincide with the times, this month there are lots of page views for 300(film), the movie by Frank Miller about 300 Spartans who fight to the death against a massive Persian army, the Battle of Thermopylae, Sparta, 300(comic), the original comic by Frank Miller, 300, and many others I am sure, accounting for over 200,000 page views a day in March. These are all because of the movie, 300, that is out now, and many of the other search terms that are popular this month like the Heroes TV series, I’m sure are because of current events or what is happening now. Captain America is number 25 on this list I assume because he just died in the comics. If these numbers are pretty close, then I dare you to tell me this is not a good keyword research tool.
