Is Buy Domains getting bought?

From time to time I deal with domainers and it came to my attention that Buy Domains was currently liquidating its portfolio of gambling names. In light of the arrest of BetOnSports CEO David Carruthers that would not come as a suprise. What does come as a suprise is that Buy Domains is also liquidating their adult domain name portfolio. While Yahoo! currently accepts adult advertising, Yahoo! does not accepting gaming advertising. So after thinking this over I had to ask myself, “Why would Buy Domains liquidate the Gaming and Adult portfolios?” The only logical conclusion was that they are cleaning up their act in preparation of some type of liquidity event or asset securitization.

At least that’s my bet.

    BTW, you can refer to them as NameMedia.com now. They're also rebranding themselves. I'd guess this move is so that the new bosses and the capital already invested can steer the company to a public offering.
