iProspect Finally Acquired

Now that Fred has sold the company in an all cash $30 million deal, how long before technologies like Aussie-born YourAmigo eat up market so fast that Aegis starts to worry?

About what? Let’s set aside the part about SEO being, currently, run by outsiders who have nothing to do with development or maintenance of a Web site… having fingers in the pie… and who tend to sell their mystery-laden services using a mixture of 80% “this is too complex for you to worry about” and 20% fear.

Aegis might be worried about betting on SEO remaining an afterthought; a service provided to e-commerce and publisher sites later, rather than from the get-go.

Considering that YourAmigo has snubbed the SEO services industry on licensing deals (which would allow them to significantly reduce overhead and boost margins) and pursued more lucrative arrangements with clients themselves, does this deal look smart?

Do you suppose anyone at Aegis thought about these things?
