Blogs Meet Google Adsense

Blogger.com is now inviting their bloggers to enroll in Adsense. It appears Google, who acquired Blogger.com, plans to roll out Adsense en masse. This will make it even easier for agencies and buyers who want to reach thought shapers and influencers. For the moment you don’t have the needle-like precision to perform a buy like you have at destination like BlogAds but I hope Google will work on that.

Blogging is rapidly becoming the activity du jour for progressive Internet users and there are still great media buys to be had. As one of my colleagues, Jim Kukral, pointed out to me they are one of the best kept secrets in cheap advertising. I have to agree. A good analogy might be Overture PPC back in 2000 where the savviest affiliates would ferret out really cheap CPC deals and play simple arbitrage for big profits.

Blogs can turn heavy traffic numbers, they are contextual, they reach important decision makers and thought shapers, and for the moment they are relatively cheap. I don’t expect that to last long.

It seems like a lot of the blogs I see with AdSense in them have ads for other blog tools. I wonder if Google will automaticelly suppress competitive ads (to Blogger) by default?

Good question Derek. Especially since Google is financially interested in the revenue that comes in from Blogger!
