There is nothing affiliate 1.0 about them nor anyone doing what they do. That stated their model is a nearly impossible one to sell merchants on -- without a set of Mercent-like (stay tuned kids!) product and inventory-level automation (optimization against, that's right, an advertiser-defined CPA). Sound familiar? (Google's CPA Optmizer) M&A activity here seems obvious and Mercent isn't the only company. Think ChannelAdvisor, Channel Intelligence et al. With eBay's Skype flop as a backdrop things should really start heating up.
