Thank you Mac
When I was little I used to listen to the song “dream weaver” over and over again each night when I went to bed. With the soft lull of the song guiding me through the stars of my imagination I dreamed that one day I would be an astronaut, imagining myself having the opportunity to press and click all the colorful buttons that lie within the console of the flight deck. I knew that when I grew up I would push buttons for a living, as a career and as a desire. I had never heard of computers at the time and equated such childish day dreaming to buttons I knew existed on aircraft. That changed when I was introduced mouth agape to my fist Apple Macintosh computer.
This was the Apple Macintosh TV Commercial that rocked the world in 1984
The commercial was directed by Ridley Scott, and the Orwellian scene depicted the IBM world being destroyed by a new machine, the “Macintosh”.
A lot has changed since the time that the Macintosh was first introduced. Many new products from Apple.com have been introduced to our world such as the iphone, the ipod and a host of other “Mac” computers and accessories. Sometimes it’s good to remember those who laid the foundation for the world that we walk in today. Sometimes it’s nice to remember the dreams we had as children, and sometimes we can feel humbled that some dreams, even those of a little girl dreaming of pushing colorful buttons would some day come true. Here’s to our children who are dreaming today, I am looking forward to what they might find and what our society might build for them!
Thank you “Mac”
