Six Apart Announces MT 3.2 with Big Promises
We are pleased to announce that the release of Movable Type 3.2 is nearly upon us. Feature development for this version was driven almost entirely by requests from our community of users and, therefore, the changes are tightly focused around the way you use the software. Overall, Movable Type 3.2 makes all the common tasks we perform with Movable Type much more satisfying.
Between now and the time it is released, we will be covering “Our 32 Favorite features in Movable Type 3.2″ on the Professional Network weblog. Though we’ll only be covering highlights of the new version, this release features over 100 new features and improvements. We’re sure all users will find this to be a significant update.
Frankly, if it wasn’t for this announcement I was beginning to lean towards moving ReveNews off of MT and over to WordPress because of the features and ease of implementation. However, I maintain hope that MT is going to give me what I want.
So what do I want? How about a better web interface for posting? It’s clumsy and you have to scroll inside windows a lot. How about global changes on templates? How about the ability to drop in a feature like ‘most recent comments’? Stuff like that.
On the way to the release, they’re announcing a new feature every so often to tease us. The first one is a system overview for admins.
It’s one place to go to oversee everything that’s happening across your installation, whether that’s a single blog for your site, dozens of blogs managing projects in your workgroup, or even hundreds of blogs for everyone in your organization.
The System Overview features a global listing of Entries, Comments and TrackBacks across all weblogs. But it’s easier to show you than to tell you, so check out the screenshot and see for yourself.
I can only hope they get better and better.
