Who are the Internet Oldtimers?

While at ad:tech New York 2007 I had the opportunity to go to a fabulous party which was hosted at the Soho House by the Internet Oldtimers. The Monday night party was fantastic and the hummus as well as the conversation flew freely. I recognized a few faces, although I have been in the industry for over 10 years however I felt dwarfed in comparison to many of those who surrounded me. My question to a friend’s confident smile was purposeful in its composition, “who are these people?” I whispered, “Who are the Internet Oldtimers?”

Strength in Numbers and in Experience

Tom Hespos with Underscore Marketing, LLC founded the group in 1999 and then in 2005 Skip Graham, HereWare, LLC purchased the List.

The OldTimers organization is a members-only community consisting of long-time top leading decision makers and influencers in the digital media and marketing industry. OldTimers interact with their peers in a private, highly confidential and relaxed virtual space on topics which impact the online marketing environment such as predictions on industry happenings, issues and trends, online measurement, media buying, cross platform deals, emerging media and technology. With a membership in excess of 400, the group uses this network as a resource for education, career opportunities, information, and network for business opportunities at large. They even manage a few laughs in between.

“Who” is an Internet Oldtimer?

An Internet Oldtimer has at least 10+ years of interactive marketing experience, and is a recognized industry expert. Whether they are an internet CEO, President, Editor in Chief, Senior Executive, or manager – they are thought leaders and influencers in their space.
