Superbowl, Bears, Colts, no-Cubs, Circus, Soccer, Ads, Greek Places and Hot Dogs
I know that the Superbowl is a big deal for a lot of Americans. I have to be honest and say that the two most popular sports in the US, American Football and Baseball are very far towards the bottom of my personal favorite sports list.
Sorry Shawn, but the Chicago Cubs leave me as emotionless as the (Oakland) Raiders
.
And who are the Chicago Bears or the Indianapolis Colts anyway? Never heard of them. No wait, I did, aehm no, my bad, I confused them with The Bad News Bears
.
I like Basketball and Hockey much more and also noticed benevolently during the latest Soccer World Cup last year in my native country Germany, the broader acceptance and appreciation of the no.1 sport worldwide, by the American public (or the “real” football, where the players actually use their feat
)
Yeah, yeah, Germany did not win, but came in 3rd place. Italy occupies the place of World champion for now until the next soccer world cup 2010 in South Africa (hey Vinny, hi Jonathan
)
Back to Superbowl XLI, which will be shown on television this Sunday, February 4th. By the way, XLI are roman numerals and not Greek, as somebody tried to convince me a few months ago and they mean 16 in Arabic numerals.
Millions of Americans will tune in and make cities look like a scene from The Omega Man, abandoned.
Fortunately is the Superbowl also famous for other things than the most important football game of the year. No, I am not referring to the astronomic amounts of money advertisers, such as the big ‘O’, pay to have their Ad shown during the breaks.
Well actually I could. I don’t know, considering the amount of money spend on those Ads are they better very, very good. I mean better than 5% online conversion good (as comparison).
I like to watch and challenge them. C’mon, sell me! Gee.. almost. hehe.
I know, that does not make sense. It is usually also not the intention of the advertisers and the goal for the Ads, maybe the hope, a little. Make up your own mind and check out last years Superbowl Ads online or via RSS Podcast feed.
For the “hardcore” advertising addicts and fans is a feed for the 2007 Ads available already.
The Ads itself are not available yet but will be made available as soon as possible, during and after the game. Who would do something like that and why? Asian marketers that get the live transmission of the game, but not the (american) commercials, daah.
The highlight of this Super Sunday for me will be the pre-game show. Not the half-time show, although I have heard that it is also “revealing” sometimes.
I got an email from Cirque Du Soleil (I am a Cirque Club Member) that notified me about the Cirque doing the pre-game show for this Superbowl. 5:50 pm Eastern Time on CBS. (more info)
Now look at all the stuff I have covered. The funny thing is that the original intend of the post was to talk about the Cirque, because I am a huge fan of them and give them a plug whenever people do not stop me
I don’t know yet what to do between then and AffiliateCamp at Yosemite?
What is a geek and star wars fan doing? Not watching the game I presume. a) Watch a Cirque Show Video or b) hang out and barbecue with my Greek friend Fotis and dream about “Greek places” called bouzoukia (no, not bazooka, although close if you compare the explosiveness of the two). Hmm.
Enjoy the Super Sunday. And no online betting! You hear me? Okay, that is only for the readers from states or countries where it is temporarily illegal. Next year, may be.
The Headline also mentioned hot dogs, yes, hot dogs are very yummy. Cheers!
