PriceGrabber Rumours… or are they?
Rumours have been wild lately in the blogosphere about Experian acquiring PriceGrabber. Several blogs (1, 2, and 3) have pointed to my article on June 6th (Shopping Comparison Scorecard).
Experian Interactive’s network of sites (e.g. Experian Consumer Direct, MetaReward, Affiliate Fuel LowerMyBills.com, ConsumerInfo.com, etc.) ranks in the top 20. PriceGrabber may give it a nice boost.
Is it true? There is an interesting PDF on the FTC website that makes it look like GUS PLC (Experian’s parent) may have filed papers regarding a purchace of PriceGrabber. Stay tuned for this and more. There are some hungry companies out there. If you remember musical chairs as a kid you will see the rest of the major shopping comparison engines acquired soon as no one wants to be the last one left without a chair.
I wasn’t looking to start a rumour last June. That was my guess about a how the price comparison space would be acquired. Hmmm, maybe the folks at Experian read Revenews. IAC, Fox et al, are you listening? If so, feel free to give me a call.
