LeadsCon: New Lead Generation Conference

Over drinks last night here at the Rio Hotel just prior to this week’s Affiliate Summit, I heard about a new lead generation specific conference called LeadsCon that is going to be happening across the street at the Palms on April 2-4, 2008:

LeadsCon is the pioneering conference and expo dedicated to increasing the effectiveness of those operating in the online lead generation industry. LeadsCon will provide a unique and collaborative environment designed for networking, innovating, and learning. Meet the people, gather the knowledge, and get the tools to gain the edge in the ever growing online lead generation space.

The LeadsCon site doesn’t mention it, but I heard the conference is being organized by performance marketing strategist, and all around smart guy, Jay Weintraub. There are already a number of sponsors from the lead gen side of things such as LeadPoint, Reply.com and Datran.

If you’re in the CPA or lead gen business, this looks like it could definitely be a worthwhile event for you. Here’s the conference schedule.

Jay is indeed one of the main people involved. I'm looking forward to meeting him and all of the other smart people attending in early April. It's great to see this conference getting so much attention — likely due to the people involved, and the topic (in what I think is an under-served market and is due it's own show).

Indeed… very few people seemed to know (at Summit) of this event and it’s important that they learn of it so, thanks, Sam. I’ll be there with other respected colleagues speaking about the proper role of affiliate marketing in lead generation. It should be very interesting.

Like it or not lead generation is quickly becoming maligned by governmental agencies on an international scale, the digital advertising and financial trades.. even retailers have a love/hate relationship with affiliate marketing :)

Yet it’s the fundamental concept that underlies all performance marketing. Is it as evil and filthy as many would have us believe or is it just forever mis-understood? I think attendees of Jay Weintraub’s event (this conference) can really get in the game. Our panel of industry veterans will likely tackle the ethical issues that are threatening to stifle performance marketing and advertising. I hope others come with questions and concerns — and I’m confident they’ll leave with a clear understanding of how to take control over outside forces, combine forces with colleagues and thrive in a sea of change.
