BlogWorld Takes Major Leap, Kicks Off Dual-Coast Engagement In NYC

New York City will be playing host this week to bloggers, social media mavens, online broadcasters, and internet business moguls at the largest industry-spanning conference on new media, BlogWorld & New Media Expo.

For BlogWorld this show represents a major leap forward from a yearly event in Las Vegas to holding two shows in the same year: one in New York City (May 24-26th at the Javits Center) and one in Los Angeles (November 3rd-5th at the L.A. Convention Center).

As Rick Calvert, CEO and Co-Founder of BlogWorld & New Media Expo, told us expanding beyond Vegas and opening the New York City show in conjunction with Book Expo America was the culmination of years of effort:

“For two years now we have been looking at doing an East Coast show that serves as many people as possible and finally everything fell into place with the Book Expo America co-location. The fact that Book Expo America sees as much value in this co-location as we do is definitely a sign that traditional and new media are converging.”

The conference and trade show does indeed have something for traditional media and the new wave of online professionals as well as weekend hobbyists. BlogWorld’s impressive list of guest speakers are scheduled to lead talks on subjects as diverse as platforms and apps, mobile technologies, content creation, traffic and distribution, and new media.

The event’s star power is concentrated in its keynote panels, which include Gary Vaynerchuk, Jeffrey Hayzlett and H.P. Mallory speaking on “Social Media Game Changers.”

Also topping the list of events with the hot topic of location is a keynote session with PepsiCo’s Josh Karpf, Disney’s Tom Aronson, Mike Schneider of allen & gerritsen, David Wolf of American Express, and Aaron Strout from WCG. Schneider and Strout are the co-authors of Location-based Marketing for Dummies.

The closing BlogWorld keynote, the “New media LIVE! Talk Show” has quickly become a favorite way to celebrate and unwind after a productive three days. Complete with parental advisory warning, this year’s let-your-hair-down event features Paul Colligan, Chris Brogan, Chris Pirillo, Andrew Breitbart, Shauna Glenn, and Sara Benincasa. Expect some wickedly pointed banter.

Of particular interest to anyone who is in the business of marketing via social media, the event’s three day Social Media Business Summit is designed to help businesses large and small gain exposure and customers, develop their brands, and improve their SEO, through a better understanding of social media.

Businesses that are just beginning to adopt social media can take their first steps with sessions like “Making Sense of Social Business,” an overview of strategy, approach, and available tools in social media for business, or “Using Social Media Tools for Business,” for those planning to use social media as a compliment to their core business plan.

Old hats in the industry will still find something new to learn in more advanced sessions like “Applied Social Media Management,” “Using Social Media Marketing to Drive Acquisition,” and the eerily apocalyptic “Developing a Digital Crisis Communications Plan.”

ReveNews will be following the conference as it unfolds and we’ll be keeping you up to date on all its major developments. Keep an eye out for profiles of prominent keynote speakers and coverage of current trends and technology.
