Vertical Search Company Farecast Continues to Grow
Farecast has made great strides in expanding from their initial markets to currently cover most large domestic cities. But having the front end data displayed is one thing… being able to monetize it, quite another. That’s why today’s deal with American Airlines is so important for the nascent site. American Airlines has signed what the two are calling a “marketing relationship” with Farecast. Details of the deal weren’t provided, but we assume that Farecast charges a cost per click. When customers find the fare they like, they’re taken directly to the American Airlines site to buy.
“We support Farecast because they provide useful information that helps consumers make smarter and more confident purchase decisions,” said David Cush, American Airlines senior vice president, Global Sales. “Farecast’s model supports direct AA.com bookings, where travelers can benefit from AA.com’s lowest fare guarantee.”
An interesting wrinkle in vertical travel search!
