Hi there, first of all I just want to say that I love your posts, I've read most of it, keep up the good work!

and now on to the affiliate networks, I have personally been a publisher for CPALead.com for a few years now, I am doing nothing illegal, i stick to legit stuff and i let my traffic know what they're doing when they finish a survey, and the majority of their publishers are legit and do no blackhat/scam stuff, but what you found there is unfortunally one of the few that does.

Anyways, what I'm trying to say here is, don't blame the cpa network for something that one of the thousands of publishers are doing, i personally know one of the cpalead managers, they have a office set up in las vegas, and they are doing whatever they can to keep those scammers off their site, they recently did a massive cleanup and banned thousands of users, and they're tightening up their approval system and all that all the time.

Enough of my ramblings, have a nice day or night or whatever, I'm off to work.

Thanks for the article. I have been watching as 3 kids I know have racked up 10's of thousands of dollars using this CPA lead generation for their misleading practices. The one they are using is "get a dislike button", or get a free t-shirt. It seems as if Facebook closes them down and then they work their way around it again. It creates a real problem as these kids get deeper and deeper in to this activity. Will there be any legal ramifications from this? I can't imagine that in this economy that kids can decept and deceive their way ito scamming thousands of dollars into their pockets. When will this stop. I worry for the ramifications they will be subject to but I can't make them stop.

I will await a reply.

When you are following the money, you often have to dig, dig, dig and then keep digging some more.

I've always been about following the money. The money is the "why" behind it happening. I think it's also the key in managing the problem.

What I'd hope to see is more long-term thinking where we are "managing" the problem internally before it's managed for us externally.

One can hope!

Nice post.

I went through some similar digging for my 'scams' article here, but I enjoyed how you kept digging deeper and deeper tracking IP locations AND the page take downs.

I look forward to your follow up, especially any recommendations you have for managing/exposing this problem further.
