Learning Goes Hand in Hand with Social Networking

Think social networks are just for kids to chat about their latest gossip?  Think again:

Nearly 60 percent of online students report discussing education-related topics such as college or college planning, learning outside of school, and careers. And 50 percent of online students say they talk specifically about schoolwork.

However, let’s extend this study out beyond school age children and realize that adults can also use social networks, such as Facebook, as platforms for education and learning.

So, don’t dismiss these places on the web as distractions or communities of dunces that don’t add to your bottom line.  After all, education and knowledge is the most valuable resource available for your company.  In the case of social networks, that value has a low opportunity cost.
