I am way behind in my writing. The good news is that so many other people have written about ThisNext since we launched 3 weeks ago that I can let them speak for me.
ThisNext launched our shopcasting network
In case you missed it, ThisNext launched our shopcasting network on August 21st while I was speaking at the Performics Summit. (I’ve been on the road a bit since our launch.) You can read the press release if you want the official statements on the site.
If you want to wish us well, don’t comment below with a simple “Congratulations” (those seem to pop up on Revenews). Instead, go to ThisNext, make some picks and add a link to your list in the comments section below. I would love to read about the products you love!
What’s being said about ThisNext in the blogosphere today
While we’ve been getting some great reviews in the press and from users, Michael Arrington of Techcrunch had this to say today:
The site is the best I’ve seen so far, with clearly structured items and very easy ways for users to add their own opinion via comments, tagging, comment ratings and adding things to a wishlist. There are easy to find “buy” links if you want to purchase the item. Users can also create a website widget to show off the stuff they really like. Good stuff, well executed.
Jason Calacanis also wrote about ThisNext today. (For full disclosure he is on our board. Thus, I will take the quote that Arrington picked from Calacanis’ blog.):
It’s sort of like taking “The Tipping Point” concepts and making them into a product you can actually use. For example, as the community grows you’ll be able to see who recommended a product first. After some period of time you might be able to find the people who are good at finding-or creating-trends. Neat huh?

There are plenty more but I don’t have time to list them all (and you’re not going to read even all of these). Here are some quotes. People seem to love ThisNext. They’re using words like addiction and obsession. Music to a marketers ears!
Is ThisNext addictive?
ThisNext is the next big thing in the way of internet shopping… Check it out, it just might change the way you shop.
… if you’re a shopaholic this [the ThisNext shopcasting badge] is a necessary addition to your blog sidebar.
…oh my, is it ever fun. it’s a new and almost communal way to check out the newest and most exciting products out there… be forewarned, you’ll get obsessed and the hours at work will fade quite quickly if you’re not careful.
beautiful new site [...] You’ll be amazed at how much time you’ll spend browsing. It’s a great way to blow off an afternoon of work… it could easily become addictive.
It’s just a neat way for me to share the wonderful handmade things I’ve found on the web, and to let others know about *my* new products too! Check it out. You’ll soon be addicted. Sorry ’bout that!
More to come!
As you can imagine, we’re working on a lot more to improve online shopping. I’ll probably write about some issues around this space. You can check out Gordon’s blog as well. Hell, add The Gordon Gould Blog to your RSS reader.
In the meantime, you can follow the products I love at ThisNext. If you’ve seen my geek pack (er, Voltaic backpack), check out what’s inside.
So take a look at the site and let the world know about the products you love. Plus, see what’s next for you!

David,
Just ignore Shawn, when he makes comments like that…I’ve been doing it for years.
Nice job on the press.
Good luck!
Beth
You’re out there on the Left Coast so long, Beth, that you’ve forgotten NYC area sarcasm.
All hugs and kisses from me to David.
This was from the from the first draft of the my blog about going to Riya, but I cut it. Seems after your comment, I should post it.
And you thought I lost my sarcasm. Pu-lease!
Spent the day at Big Sur hiking at the beach and in a redwood forest.
How is Newark Shawn? Keep on defending Bush and NJ.

I’ve been to San Francisco alright. All things considered, I’d rather be in Philadelphia.
And Newark has marvelous things going on with Mayor Cory Booker in charge. Maybe the site of Affiliate Summit 2007 East?!
Great concept and web site that will generate some buzz. Love the ease of adding a recomendation and uploading photos and web content.
