People I've spoken with seem to believe that Google insists on this as either A) for legal reasons or B) to help Google's on-the-side-ppc-arbitraging employees figure out what terms to bid on. Today they suspended one of my ads because they say I'm an affiliate and must identify that fact. Funny thing is, I'm *not* an affiliate. I'm co-owner of the company the ad is for.
