Crunchies Announced: Apparently TechCrunch still feels Facebook is a startup

TechCrunch annual awards the Crunchies were announced. True startup’s like ProjectFrog, Kiva and GoodGuide got some well deserved recognition. However does Facebook really need to win Best Overall Startup and Best Startup CEO? True the audience voted but TechCrunch set the five finalists and Michael Arrington’s editors should have done a better job of allowing new companies whose innovation could truly benefit from the recognition into the space. Shouldn’t that be the purpose of the Crunchies? Still congratulations to the winners.

JibJab Snags $7.5 Million Series C

Hitting the mainstream with its 2004 election parody called This Land, JibJab is still serving up parody but also targeting consumer’s with eCards and reaching out to advertisers with branding specific opportunities. To fund all this JibJab snagged another $7.5 million in Series C funding. With smartly silly ideas like ElfYourself videos the laughs are still going strong.

Performance Marketing Alliance Opens to Charter Members

According their announcement the Performance Marketing Alliance (PMA) has opened to the door to charter members. Charter memberships close April 16, 2009. The PMA hopes to provide guidelines to help establish industry wide standards and best practices.
