BlogworldExpo 2008, Las Vegas Warm-up

Here are some first expressions from before BlogWorldExpo, where I am currently at. I also talk about overdoing attending conferences and business cards again. I don’t suggest, like Shawn did once in one of his videos, to have new business cards for each event you are attending. Watch the video to find out why I don’t and what I think you should do instead.

Short post in text, but the video will have to do this time.

Cheers!

Hi Carsten,

I thought you brought up an interesting point about overdoing conferences. With so many conferences to attend between the Affiliate Summits, network conferences, social media conferences, etc. how many do you think would be the ideal number to attend?

Another question I have is that I know when I am attending conferences, while their is great value in the networking, work is usually not getting done for clients, etc. How does one successfully juggle attending enough conferences to stay relevant while not letting it affect work due to clients?

Thanks.

Stephen,

There is no finite answer for how much conferences is too much for you. Ask yourself why you go to conference XYZ, what you want to get out of it and then check after the conference, if you met those goals. If you didn’t, then you might want to skip that conference the next time.

Also check, if the goals that you set are worth at least as much as the time and money you spent on attending the conference. :)

Btw. In case nobody noticed, but this was my shortest blog post EVER! :) … just for the records. hehe
