Shoutlet: The Web 2.0 Marketing Tool

Shoutlet is an interesting new platform that allows for marketers to easily create new campaigns across a variety of “web2.0″ mediums. Shoutlet is exhibiting at this week’s DEMO conference.
Competitors in this space include Koral (recently acquired by SalesForce) and SpikeSource. However, neither of those seem to be on the same entry ease-of-use level as Shoutlet. I expect to see more competitors in this space as marketers seek out analytics and tracking solutions beyond just the realm of impressions and clicks due to the rise of social media and SMS.
At first glance and after initial research, Shoutlet is a compelling option for smaller boutique marketers or marketers looking to test out various aspects of social media. On the corporate or large-scale client side, it would seem that SalesForce’s Koral has the upper hand.
From the Shoutlet info page:
Shoutlet is a powerful new social communication tool that brings together the latest Web 2.0 features into one simple, web-based application. While many companies only offer a tool to send out eNewsletters, Shoutlet takes full advantage of today’s robust Web 2.0 technologies to deliver compelling online marketing campaigns.
With an easy-to-use interface, Shoutlet allows you to create everything from classic HTML emails to mobile phone text messages and podcasts in an instant.
While the site is still in demo mode and not open to registrations beyond the private beta, the ability to easily deploying RSS, podcast, SMS, newsletters, widget creatives and campaigns within one interface that includes tracking could certainly make Shoutlet a favorite among the online marketing world that is eager to dabble in the SMS or widget or RSS world with the least amount of upstart of initial resource commitment.
Keep an eye on Shoutcast as the DEMO conference unfolds and as the buzz spreads outwards from the show. I expect to hear a good deal more about this in the coming weeks and can’t wait to try it out myself!
