James A. Crouthamel, Founder of Performics, Elected to Board of ValueClick

June 19th, 2007 by Brook Schaaf

I am in New York right now and met up with affiliate marketing folks at a Happy Hour organized by Eric Ewe with Wyndham Resorts Affiliate Program. Several notables showed up, including Steve Denton, President of LinkShare.
We got to talking about the past and future of the industry and he commented on the recent election of James Crouthamel to the board of ValueClick, owner of Commission Junction, an interesting development considering the speculation that Google may “dispose of” Performics. (Note: the original copy has been changed and the word “dispose” removed.)
Here is the press release on Internet Retailer.

Interesting…I wonder how the advertisers that left CJ for Performics feel about the potential “disposal” of Performics or would the affiliate network continue???

Well it was a great affiliate dinner and I learned a lot from a lot of experts in the field of affiliate marketing.

Now that said, I would not read anything into it. Sometimes parent companies do restruction and would get rid of top execs from the old company, so he just jumped ship.
