What I call “micro-manufacturing” are the growing breed of relationships between product designer/promoters and “just in time” manufacturing companies producing everything from books to lunchboxes, action figures to DVDs. In many of these relationships, the manufacturing company also provides the e-commerce infrastructure, producing an environment where the product designer receives commissions on each sale of their own products.
