Affiliate Training Doesn’t Have To Be Micro-Training - Part 2

June 30th, 2006 by Anik Singal

Alright I know I am excessively late on posting part 2 considering I posted part 1 on June 12, but as most of you know I was really busy with ‘The Affiliate Manager - 1st Edition’ launch. Anyways, here’s part 2 as promised!

Just a review from last time’s post:

======================================
But, the kind of training we’re talking about is more “hands-off” training.

Over the coming days, we’ll go over the various things you can do, most fall into two common areas:

1. Non-interactive Training
2. Interactive Training

======================================

Last time we talked about 2 forms of non-interactive training:

1. Providing an FAQ File
2. Providing a Sales Guide

This post I want to talk about 2 more forms of non-interactive training…

1. A “Getting Started” Guide

This is different than a “Sales Guide” because you provide much more detailed instructions on how to promote your particular program. Tell them what works for the other affiliates. Should they put up a banner first, a text link, send an e-mail blast?

Also, where on their site will they do best? What kind of pages are most targeted, etc…

2. Newsletter

I still for the life of me don’t understand why more programs don’t send out a periodic newsletter to their affiliates just informing them about what is going on! I see multi-million dollar companies shying away from this, why?

You don’t have to create something that is earth shattering. Something as simple as:

=====================

Hey –AFFILIATENAME–,

Just wanted to let you know that this month the sales leaders were
– so and so — with — this many — sales. Just to show our appreciation
we are awarding them with an extra — prize —.

Also, our most improved affiliate is getting a — prize –.

Also, we are releasing a new product coming up on –date–, please be
ready to announce that on your website.

On another note, we’ve added new promotional tools you can find at
— URL –.

We’re finding that banner #2 is getting the highest clickthroughs now.

Lastly, — NAME — came out with a new book/software recently that
we think will really help you build traffic to your site, have a look:

– URL–

Thank you,

YOUR INFORMATION

=====================

OK, so that wasn’t the MONA LISA of newsletters, but it was simple and to the point and took me 2 minutes to write. Just doing that will help!

Alright that’s enough rambling from me for 1 day. Part 3, we’ll start talking about some more “interactive” methods of training…
