Tagged! 1 Thing I Learned At Affiliate Summit

I got double tagged … and that on a Friday hehe, by Heather Paulson from the rainy Seattle, Washington and by Jess Luthi from the (also rainy) UK.

Update: make that three taggs. I just saw that Anik Singal tagged me too.

And I got tagged back by Scott Jangro and Durk (who tagged me back at my own blog : ) )

This tagging round is about: “1 Thing I Learned At Affiliate Summit”

This one is easier than some of the past ones, like “5 things you never knew about me” that was started by Jeff Pulver in December 2006. Michael D Jensen from SoloSEO created a Blog Tag Tree where you can track where this tagging lead to. Some had obviously a lot of fun. I am not sure to this day, if I am sad or lucky that I was never tagged hehe.

Okay, here it comes…

I learned or better got reinforced in my believe that regardless of the time you (you think) you know somebody on the internet and how many phone calls, emails, forums and blog discussions you had together, you only get to know a person really, if you meet that somebody in person and spent some time together. Especially, if you take the time to socialize together outside the business and talk about things that have nothing or only little to do with affiliate marketing.

It shows that no matter how great the new communication technology is, that it cannot replicate reality. It also shows that communication between humans is more than just words. It the whole package, which includes body language and even scent (yeah, smell). You have to smell and see each other folks whenever you get the chance. Your future partnership will thrive and be nurtured from it.

This post might be a bit exaggerated but it brings the message across.

Okay, I am tagging only people that where actually at the Affiliate Summit for sure and (hopefully) not tagged yet.

1. Durk Price from eAccountable (AffGoo.com)
2. Jeremy Palmer from QuickMyDayJob.com
3. Scott Jangro from Jangro.com and BUMPZee.com

And thanks to BUMPzee! and the ability to post “zee!’s” without having your own blog (thanks Scott) :)

4. Debbie Shapiro from Kasamba.com
5. Stefanie Yang from eHealthInsurance.com (update: see her response)

Cheers and have a good weekend everybody.

Hi Durk, that is not how this tagging stuff works hehe… Did your blog(s) break down? :) Just kidding. Cheers!

  • Jess Luthi

Ha ha ha Carsten, I already tagged Durk b4 u :)
Durk, you need to write one thing that you learned at affiliatesummit on your own blog then tag five more people to continue the chain, all good fun :)

Have a good weekend both and yes it's raining here :0(

Hi Jess, Shoot.. you did? Well, its getting hard to tag someone who was at the summit, wasn't tagges and has a blog.. I was happy to find BUMPZee accounts :)

  • Jess

lol… yeah, I went through business cards first, visited websites and no blogs, so then I just resorted to google, but yeah I should have gone for bumzee. A lot of double tagging going on, too funny.

Your comments were great and I really think it is getting to be that relationships are the driving force of the affiliate industry. Good relationships means good returns for the merchants I represent.

The other thing I really learned at Affiliate Summit: find out where the main bar is located and be there. I did not see people drinking to excess, but I saw real relationships being formed and fostered in a relaxed environment. I had some of the deepest conversations amid the clamor of the bar. Now this may seem a spurious comment, but it echoes your post and it something I have seen as I have gone to CJU, LinkShare Symposium and now AS.

    Tag you back
