I Want To Buy An Affiliate Marketing Company
Today I was contacted by someone in the online advertising business who asked me that very question…
“I want to buy an affiliate marketing company. Who should I buy?”
In the spirit of Sam’s deep throat entry, I’m going to leave that person nameless for now. Maybe when they finally agree to give me an interview with real answers I’ll post it here, but until then, no soup for you.
The first thing I asked this person was… why?
See, the company that they own is a large ad network, and according to him they are very profitable. But from past conversations, I have deduced that they are very successful, with one huge problem. They have run out of stuff to sell. Ad inventory is sold out across all of their web properties and from what I can deduce, the only way to make more money is to have more stuff/places to sell it, or expand.
Question #1: So why buy an affiliate marketing company in that situation?
Question #2: Who should be bought in the space and why? List them in comments. Let’s get this conversation going.
Question #3: As cpm ad networks bloat from inventory fulfillments, are they now beginning to stop being so snobbish about affiliate marketing?
