dMonday Scores the Highest Day in Online Sales
On December 4th, I predicted that all the Hype over Cyber Monday and the new eDay wouldn’t be the end of the Monday Hype days. Past reports indicated that the next two Mondays would actually be higher!
Well today comScore released results for dMonday (Delevery-Deadline Monday, December 11th, 2006) and as predicted, dMonday broke all the records!
“Monday, December 11, represented yet another record-setting effort, as consumers spent $661 million online, up 19-percent versus the corresponding Monday last year! “
By comparison, CyberMonday came in at $608 Million and eDay came in at $647 Million. In fact, further debunking the whole Cyber Monday myth, comScore reported that for the 5 consecutive days starting on eDay (Dec 4th – Dec 7th) daily online sales exceeded $610 million, each day more than Cyber-Monday.
It looks like people are starting to reefer to Cyber Monday as the day that kicks off the online holiday shopping season. I wonder if that’s really true as well.
It will be interesting to see which day was really the biggest online shopping day this year when the dust settles.
Everyone agrees though that this year’s online shopping continues to increase, showing gains of approximately 25% over last year.
Happy Holidays!
