Become.com Becomes an Affiliate

Become.com launched in beta today. It was started by Michael Yang and Yeogirl Yun, the founders of MySimon. While it claims to be a shopping search engine, I’m not sure how it differs from a standard search engine.

The main body of the SERPs has textual search results. Google AdWords are listed on the right side just like on Google. There is a small section of related search terms at the bottom.

So why is this launch interesting enough to be on Revenews? Rumor has it that Become.com is going to add results from affiliate programs. That would be an interesting move considering the general shift away from PFP affiliate programs to PPC shopping comparison sites.

Become.com has money and talent. We’ll see what they make of it.
