Andy Rodriguez shows what an Affiliate Marketer is made of

I was obviously not the only one on Tuesday, the last day of the Affiliate Summit 2007 West, who was looking for some Vegas entertainment.

I have to admit, that most shows were not running on that day, because Tuesday seems to be the weekend for most performers and only a view “emergency” shows were available. So chances were already better than average to bump into fellow marketers at one of the few.

One of the shows available was Cirque Du Soleil’s Mystere at the MGM Treasure Island Hotel and Casino and since I am a big Cirque fan and Mystere is one of the few shows I have not seen yet, was it for me a natural pick.

I bought one of the best seats in the house and realized that Andy Rodriguez from Andy Rodriguez Consulting had the same idea. He was sitting only a few rows behind me.

Part of the show was a clown that had some fun with the audience. He came across Andy’s polished baldness and could not resist to touch it and polish even more, just to put a Wig on his head for everybody’s amusement.

Andy was a sport and took the joke without making a scene, showing that affiliate marketers are no sissies and used to much tougher things than practical jokes. “Kleinigkeit” :)

I seized the opportunity and took a picture with my camera phone. The quality is unfortunately not as good as I hoped so you have to trust me, if I say that the guy on the picture is Andy. You can also ask him, but I am sure he will deny everything :) .

The show was okay, but nothing spectacular, compared to other Cirque shows like “Ka”, “O” or “Le Reve”.

There was a first for me though. I saw for the first time a performer slip and miss the routine at the last performance on the Aerial High Bar, 40 feet above the ground. Some people thought that this was part of the show, but trust me, it is not. I saw it already on Solstrom, the Cirque Du Soleil TV Show.

This incident was a very real reminder, that the safety net underneath is not just decoration. The performer could have hurt much more than just his pride.

    Thanks Peter,

Love and Zumanity had no show. Those are the last two Cirque shows I have not seen yet (neither live nor on DVD). In April is a new touring show coming. I am looking forward to that one.

    Cheers!

Next time you should check out the Cirque Show “Love” at the Mirage, its a great tribute to the Beatles that makes you feel like you are part of a crazy music video. The music is all Beatles and the show is all Cirque.

I've been listening to the new Love CD and really want to see the show as I'm a huge Beatles fan and love the visuals of the Cirque shows. I'll be sure to sit in the back to avoid the clowns.

My favorite music is the one from Le Reve followed by the music of Varekai. I like the Beatles, but prefer the epic orchestra, chorus and synthesizer. I love Vangelis and Jean Michel Jarre for exactly this reason.

    Carsten,

It was really cool to meet with you in person and chat a bunch of times. For those of you who haven't met Carsten, he has a thick German accent.

    Hey Jim,

"It was really cool to meet with you in person "

Same here. It was actually the main reason (making up 95%) why I was looking forward to the summit.

The sessions are not bad and actually very good for newbies or people that focused on one thing in this industry only without following the other things to get it all compressed in a short 101 version.

"he has a thick German accent"

sorry, but there is nothing I can do about it, even if my life would depend on it :)

btw. Congratulation for winning the best blogger award. I don't think that I did that already :) . Well, better late than never hehe.
