2009 Top Performance Marketing Companies in the Inc 5000

inc5000-smI culled through this year’s Inc 5000 Advertising and Marketing list to try to pick out companies primarily focused on performance marketing and broke them down into 3 categories.  Here are the top Affiliates, Affiliate OPMs, and Affiliate / CPA networks in the Inc 5000 for 2009 based on Revenue Growth from 2005 to 2008.  If I missed any companies, I apologize, it’s not always easy to identify performance marketing companies by their descriptions on Inc.com  and their websites.

Here is the list:

Nice work, Adam. I thought about compiling that sort of list, but figured it was going to be as big a project as it looks like it was. :)

Nice list. Shows that email marketing still works among other things…

Thanks guys, I am sure I missed someone, it was a big list to go through.

Thanks Adam, we are certainly proud of our ranking in the list.

    Peter,

You should be proud! It's quite an accomplishment!

    Congratulations!

    Great work Adam.

I just wish the list was more apples to apples on the revenue numbers. I have a feeling many of the CPA type networks listed are reporting revenues as the gross payout by the advertiser (i.e. $100) and not the actual net revenues that the network keeps ($25), which makes the number overly inflated and hard to compare with other companies that report actual net revenues that do not include pass-through payouts.

  • http://www.imwave.com Adam Viener

I think as part of the inc magazine process they need to submit their tax returns to validate the revenue numbers, so these should be the Gross Revenues they reported to the IRS.

  • http://www.toddtalks.com Todd Crawford

Probably true but if i report my revenue as 100% of advertiser payout and expense 75% of that amount as an expense, my gross numbers are still inflated.

Nice job Peter, Adam, and everyone else on the list. Congrats!

Nice compilation. What Todd brought up makes sense but at those #s, that is still pretty significant.

Had to RT this list. It shows the power of the performance industry and growth in the last 3 years. Congrats Adam, Peter and all that made the list!

    Hi Adam Viener,

I understand & appreciate an effort & vision to compile the list. Yet it ain't the best deal for kinda beginners & people who are about to make their decisions without the interpretations & explanations, these are just numbers, you know?

Don't you think they need the information to make decisions more than anything else?

  • http://www.imwave.com Adam Viener

    Chris,

I am not sure exactly what you mean? Inc Magazine came out with a list of the top 5,000 fastest growing companies based on the following:

    1. Companies that submitted their information.
    2. Income Tax Verifiable Gross Income for the years in question.

All I did was spend some time to go through that list’s advertising and marketing section and pull out those that were clearly in the performance marketing arena.

How people interpret the list is up to them. As a beginner you might look at this list and say “wow, there is a lot of opportunity here to make some good money”, or you might look at it and say the space is too crowded, that is really up to you.
