Party on My Cell Phone

I’ve been getting invitations to parties in LA… on my cell phone. They come as text messages. I don’t like text messages. I have a Sidekick. I like “traditional” text messaging. Give me e-mail and IM. I don’t get texting (except from friends at sporting events). I use a Sidekick so I can use e-mail and IM wherever I am. No need for text messaging.

You would think that one message from pnights@psalms.redeemedhost.com would be bad enough, right? Nope, I have gotten six in about a week. I was fed up enough that I looked it up. It turns out this is covered by CAN-SPAM. I filed a complaint today. I’ll let you know if anything happens.

I don’t like SPAM, whether it is online or in cans. The worst part about it is that someone must respond to it. Otherwise, why would people continue to use it. If people would just ignore it, would it go away?

If you are wondering how the parties were, ask pnights@psalms.redeemedhost.com, I didn’t go.

The FCC called me today. It is working on my complaint.

New text message today from pnights@psalms.redeemedhost.com:

    Subject: MOOD
    u+2 till 11
    Tonight!! Rose
    Bowl Pre-Party –
    MOOD Cards
    honored

Talk about helpful and informative. Time to do some more digging.

I called the Mood (it's a club in LA). The first person I talked to claimed that Mood had no responsibility for it and gave me the phone numbers for 3 promoters that they use. I considered seeing if they were liable but decided to call the promoters. Not the most ethical sounding bunch. No sock: nobody to talk to.

So I called Mood back and got someone else. She said that it looks like it is Icon Productions (probably not Mel Gibson's company but wouldn't it be great if it were). I just left a nice message for the folks at Icon asking them to stop Spamming me and everyone else. We'll see what happens.

If you are getting the same Spam, you can call Icon at (323) 960-1687 or try e-mailing Greg at glites11@aol.com. I'm thinking of giving his e-mail address to every Spammer on the planet.

No SPAM from Icon today. Maybe they don't have any parties planned. We'll see what happens for the weekend.
